1. Au Pairs must apply through a Thai agency
This isn’t true at all because in order to proceed your Au Pair visa/work permit application you can apply directly through the embassy or VFS visa application center of a host country, however, for the country like the Netherlands Au Pairs are obliged to apply through a Dutch agency but again not a Thai agency. So yes, if you’re mature, have high English proficiency together with good knowledge of European culture and truly understand Au pair rules and regulations, you’re welcome to apply for the program without assistance from the Thai Au pair agency.

1. ต้องเข้าโครงการผ่านเอเจนซี่ไทย
ไม่จริงคะ การเข้าโครงการออแพร์ในยุโรป ออแพร์สามารถหาครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์และดำเนินการเอกสารเพื่อขอวีซ่าหรือใบอนุญาตทำงานผ่านสถาณทูตหรือวีเอฟเอส (VFS) โดยตรง ได้ด้วยตนเอง สำหรับประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ตามกฎหมายออแพร์ต้องทำเรื่องผ่านเอเจนซี่ดัชและไม่จำเป็นต้องผ่านเอเจนซี่ไทย

2. Au Pairs must be under the age of 30

According to Au Pair regulations of some countries, age of 30 is still acceptable, but we have to admit that the time is running out so you had better be hurry in terms of document preparation for your application (if you apply through a Thai agency) as well as preparing for disappointment in case you don’t find a suitable match within the limited time. Besides, sometimes it happens, families consider 30 years of age too old for becoming an Au pair.

ไม่จริงคะ ถึงอายุ30แล้ว ตามกฎหมายประเทศสวีเดนและเนเธอร์แลนด์ เรายังสามารถเข้าร่วมโครงการได้แต่ต้องเผื่อเวลาในการหาครอบครัว ดำเนินเรื่องวีซ่าและรอวีซ่าอนุมัติ ซึ่งกระบวนการจะช้าหรือเร็วขึ้นอยู่กับประเทศที่ออแพร์ยื่นเรื่อง แนะนำว่า อย่าปล่อยให้เวลาล่วงเลยมากเกินไปเพราะความเสี่ยงที่เราจะไม่ได้รับอนุมัติวีซ่าก่อนอายุ 31 ก็จะมากขึ้นด้วย

3.Knowledge of 3^rd language is required for every country. Which country knowledge of 3^rd language isn’t required?
Not true! Not all countries in Europe require knowledge of 3^rd language. In fact, there are only 3 countries that are known to require a proof of 3^rd language skills; Germany, Austria and France. The rest you can apply without this document.

ไม่ใช่ทุกประเทศในยุโรปที่มีโครงการออแพร์และขอเอกสารยืนยันความรู้พื้นฐานภาษาที่3 หลักๆแล้วจะมีแค่ประเทศเยอรมันนี ออสเตรีย ฝรั่งเศส เท่านั้นที่ขอเอกสารวัดระดับภาษาเพื่อใช้ในการขอวีซ่า

4. There is Au Pair program in the following countries; U.K/Spain/Italy/Australia/New Zealand

False. The U.K doesn’t entitle Thai nationals to apply for Au Pair program; hence, if you happen to be approached by a British family convincing you to come work for them in the U.K, just so you know it’s impossible. For Spain and Italy, Au Pair program is not regulated; means there is no legal permission for non-European to join the program there; yet, a tourist visa or student visa still offers you a chance to enter these countries to work as an Au pair. However, it’s still considered as too risky because Au Pairing isn’t supported by laws. Lastly, if you fancy taking a part-time job in Australia or New Zealand as a babysitter, you must apply for a Working Holiday Schemes.

4. ประเทศอังกฤษ สเปน อิตาลี ออสเตรเลีย และ นิวซีแลนด์ มีโครงการออแพร์
ประเทศอังกฤษไม่อนุญาตให้คนไทยเข้าโครงการออแพร์ที่อังกฤษ ดังนั้นออแพร์ไทยสมัครไม่ได้คะ ประเทศสเปน อิตาลีไม่มีโครงการออแพร์ ไม่มีกฎหมายรับรองที่ชัดเจน ดังนั้นจึงมีความเสี่ยงสูงสำหรับออแพร์ที่ต้องการไปทำงานที่นั้น ส่วนประเทศออสเตรเลียกับนิวซีแลนด์ สองประเทศนี้ไม่มีโครงการออแพร์นะคะ หากใครสนใจไปทำงานเป็นพี่เลี้ยงเด็กหรืองาน part-time อื่นๆ ในประเทศเหล่านี้ต้องเข้าโครงการ Working Holiday อย่างเดียวคะ

5. Au Pairs must pay for flight tickets him/herself

Not always so! In Denmark Au Pair is entitled to a free return flight ticket from his/her host family, including a re-match case, the new host family will be responsible for cost of travel back home from Denmark.This is Danish laws, so if you visit a Thai agency and they demand you pay for flight ticket to and from Denmark, you are being misled. For the rest of the countries, it depends on how Au Pairs agree/negotiate with their host family – almost 100% of host families from Sweden help Au pair for a return flight ticket if she/he successfully stays with them for the entire year. 80% of host families in Belgium and Norway are willing to help Au pair bare travel cost. 30% of Dutch host families still contribute to Au pair flight tickets. France and Germany - none or let’s say chance that host families will bear the travel cost is very small.

5.ออแพร์ยุโรปต้องออกค่าตั๋วเครื่องบินเอง

ครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ส่วนใหญ่ในยุโรปออกค่าตั๋วเครื่องบินให้ออแพร์อยู่นะคะ ถึงแม้ว่าจะไม่มีกฎหมายบังคับใช้ในเรื่องนี้ อย่างเช่นประเทศสวีเดนที่เกือบ100%ของครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ซื้อตั๋วเครื่องบินไปกลับให้ออแพร์ ส่วนประเทศอื่นๆจะขึ้นอยู่กับเงื่อนไขระเบียบการของโครงการ หรือการตกลงกันระหว่างออแพร์กับครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ แต่หากกล่าวในทางกฎหมาย จะมีประเทศเดนมาร์กที่ครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ถูกกฎหมายบังคับให้ซื้อตั๋วเครื่องบินไปกลับให้ออแพร์ โดยไม่มีข้อยกเว้น ดังนั้นถ้าใครที่เข้าเอเจนซี่ไทยเพื่อจะไปออแพร์ที่เดนมาร์กแล้วถูกเอเจนซี่เรียกเก็บค่าตั๋วเครื่องบิน แสดงว่าถูกหลอกนะคะ

6. European children can speak English at very young ages
This misunderstanding usually happens with experienced Au pairs in the US and it’s understandable why it’s so easy for them to have a mis-perception about Europe as American children regardless of how young they are, they all speak English fluently. Unfortunately, this perception cannot be applied with European children who speak their own native language; French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian etc. Therefore to expect very young children in Europe to be able to communicate in English already is irrational. Think this way! What if someone asks a Thai child to speak English, would he/she be able to spit out English fluently? Sure, you probably find this special kid who is raised in an international lifestyle and use English as 1^st language but there are very few of them in Thailand. 

6. เด็กๆที่ยุโรปสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษได้ตั้งแต่ยังเล็ก
ออแพร์หลายคนที่เคยเป็นออแพร์ฝั่งอเมริกามา มักจะเข้าใจผิดว่า เด็กๆที่ยุโรปสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษได้ตั้งแต่ยังเล็กๆ ซึ่งเป็นความเข้าใจผิดนะคะ เพราะเด็กๆที่ยุโรปใช้ภาษาของเค้าเป็นภาษาแม่ และใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาที่2เหมือนบ้านเราคะ ดังนั้นเด็กๆที่โน้นจะยังสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษไม่ได้นะคะ นอกเสียจากเป็นครอบครัวที่มีไลฟ์สไตล์ออกแนว International หน่อยคือสอนให้ลูกพูดภาษาอังกฤษตั้งแต่ยังเล็กๆ

7. To apply for the program, bank statement is required
In order to apply for an Au pair program in Europe, a proof of financial status or Bank statement is inessential because Au pair’s employer (host family) is already his/her sponsor.

ไม่คะ การทำเรื่องไปยุโรปไม่ต้องแสดงสถาณะทางการเงินของตัวเองเพื่อยื่นขอวีซ่าออแพร์คะ เพราะครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์เป็นนายจ้างและสปอนเซอร์ของเราอยู่แล้วคะ

8. It’s easy to find a host family in Europe
Many of us may not realize how competitive Au pair program is at the present. Some believe it’s easy to find the right family and it won’t take time which is completely wrong. Certainly, finding the right/good match takes time unless you are very lucky to find one on the early stage of online process. I can tell you, it is very rare! Furthermore, key competitors of Thai Au Pairs are not only among Thais but also foreign Au Pairs with good ability in English such as candidates from the Philippines and from European countries themselves. Obviously, this is the challenge that Thai Au pairs should be prepared for. Something else that we notice these days is a majority of European host families prefer to hire someone who already resides within Europe to the one from outside Europe as there is no paperwork, a long visa application procedure and of course, unnecessary expenses they must invest in order to employ an Au Pair.

8.การหาครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์จากไทยเป็นเรื่องที่ง่าย

ไม่ง่ายคะ เนื่องจากเป็นโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนที่เข้าง่าย ดังนั้นจำนวนออแพร์จึงมากกว่าจำนวนครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์คะ และที่สำคัญคู่แข่งของออแพร์ไทยคือประเทศที่ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษได้ดี อย่างเช่นประเทศฟิลิปินส์ หรือประเทศอื่นๆในยุโรปเอง ช่วงนี้ครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์หลายครอบครัวมักสนใจจ้างออแพร์ที่อยู่ในยุโรปแล้วเพราะเสียค่าใช้จ่ายในการทำเรื่องน้อยและไม่ต้องรอวีซ่านาน

9. English Fluency isn’t important
Some say you don’t have to be very good at English to become an Au pair. I guessed this statement is correct; yet, it’s still important that Au pair can at least use WORKING ENGLISH since Au pairing is working. I mean you are there to work not to vacation. If you are vacationing, definitely you are not obliged to interact or make conversation with people if you don’t want to but Au Pairing is working, you must execute the work that your host family assigns to you. if you fail to communicate effectively with the host family, problem will certainly arise.

To sum it up, No, you don’t need to speak PERFECT ENGLISH to join the program, but working English is necessary and will determine degree of your happiness while living abroad. I mean if you can efficiently communicate in English, you will not face much difficulty in living life there; above all, you get to enjoy new experience to the fullest.

9.ไม่จำเป็นต้องเก่งภาษาอังกฤษก็เป็นออแพร์ได้

คือไม่จำเป็นต้องเก่งภาษามาก แต่ระดับภาษาของผู้สมัครควรอยู่ในระดับที่สื่อสารได้เข้าใจและไม่ตีความผิดพลาด การเป็นออแพร์คือการทำงาน ไม่ใช่การไปท่องเที่ยว ดังนั้นประสิทธิภาพในการสื่อสารสำคัญมากๆคะ เพราะหากเกิดความผิดพลาดอะไรขึ้นมา มันก็จะกระทบความรู้สึกและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์กับออแพร์ทันที หลายคนมองข้ามเรื่องนี้เพราะคิดว่าที่อยากเข้าร่วมโครงการก็เพราะอยากไปฝึกภาษาแต่การที่เราไปอยู่หรือทำงานในต่างประเทศนั้น การสื่อสารเป็นตัวชี้วัดเหมือนกันว่าเราไปอยู่ที่โน้นแล้วจะมีความสุขไหม ถ้าเราสื่อสารไม่เข้าใจและเจอปัญหาในการสื่อสารบ่อยๆเราก็จะรู้สึกท้อ เครียด กดดัน และไม่มีความสุขกับชีวิตและการทำงานในต่างแดนคะ ดังนั้นหากเราอยากเป็นออแพร์และสนุกกับชีวิตที่โหลดโผนในต่างประเทศ ภาษาอังกฤษสำคัญมากคะ ป.ล มากกว่า 70% ของครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ในยุโรป ตัดสินใจเลือกออแพร์จากทักษะภาษาอังกฤษเป็นหลัก

10. You will make a lot of money

Honestly, if you expect to make tons of money out of Au Pair program, you are completely wrong because often the money you make in Thailand is relatively higher. Why is it unlike in the US where you are allowed to work up to 45 hours/week and earn a lot? Well, that because countries in Europe want to keep this program as a cultural exchange program, not an opportunity of gold digging. Hence, Au pair program in Europe goes like this – short work hours (only between 25-30 hours/week)/ small incomes/ a lot of free time to explore local lifestyle and culture, many holidays to travel and opportunity to study 3^rd language.

However, due to a small amount of Au pair pocket money, in order to make savings, Au pairs must learn to live an economic lifestyle as well as become more thoughtful about personal expenses. Saving skill is something you must learn and improve.

Often people say Norway is the most generous among all to pay Au Pairs highest. Yes, that’s true but don’t forget that cost of living in Norway is considerably the highest too, so, let’s put it this way - it’s reasonable Norway pays Au Pairs more than any other countries, because to live there, Au pairs spend a lot as well on their personal expenses. 

10.จะหาเงินได้เยอะจากการเป็นออแพร์ที่ยุโรป

หลายคนมักคิดว่าการไปทำงานเมืองนอกจะได้เงินเยอะ ซึ่งอาจจะใช่ถ้าคุณได้อาชีพหรืองานการที่ดี เช่น เป็นหมอ วิศวกร ผู้จัดการในบริษัท หรืออาชีพอะไรก็แล้วแต่ที่ต้องการ วุฒิการศึกษา ความรู้เฉพาะด้าน ประสบการณ์ทำงาน แต่หากคุณกำลังคิดว่าการเป็นออแพร์หรือพี่เลี้ยงเด็กในยุโรปได้เงินเยอะคุณคิดผิดคะ เหตุผลแรกเลยก็คือว่า โครงการออแพร์เป็นโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรม ใช่อยู่ที่โครงการนี้ให้สิทธิ์ผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการให้สามารถทำงานได้ (เลี้ยงเด็กและช่วยงานบ้าน)แต่กฎระเบียบในการจ้างงาน ไม่ใช่แบบเต็มเวลา ออแพร์ทำงานได้แค่ตามจำนวนชั่วโมงที่ประเทศนั้นๆกำหนดซึ่งอยู่ระหว่าง 25-30 ชั่วโมงต่ออาทิตย์ และแน่นอน ออแพร์ได้รับเงินเดือนแค่ตามข้อกำหนดเช่นกัน เมื่อเป็นเช่นนี้แล้ว การที่ออแพร์ทำงานเกินหรือไปรับงานพิเศษนั้นจึงเป็นเรื่องที่ผิดกฎหมาย เนื่องจากประเทศในยุโรปเน้นให้ผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการมาเพื่อหาประสบการณ์ เรียนรู้วัฒนธรรม วิถีชีวิตและภาษาใหม่ๆ รายได้ที่ออแพร์ได้รับจึงไม่มากนัก อีกเหตุผลก็คือวว่า ออแพร์ไม่ต้องเสียค่าใช้จ่ายในการดำรงชีวิตเลย เนื่องจากได้ที่พักฟรีและกินอยู่กับครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ อย่างไรก็ตามสำหรับใครที่เน้นเรื่องรายได้เป็นหลัก เราแนะนำให้สมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการในประเทศอเมริกาคะ เพราะนั้นคือการทำงานพี่เลี้ยงเด็กแบบเต็มเวลาจริงๆ

11.You won’t get an opportunity to practice English

For someone who has never been or lived in Europe before might have the wrong perception that people in Europe don’t speak English so well. Let me tell you, it isn’t true! Europe as a continent is rather small in comparison to other continent in the world; yet, don’t forget it has diversity of people, cultures and languages; thus, you cannot expect European countries or people to be the same. Now let me tell you which countries rank on top for English proficiency as the second language - The Netherlands and Scandinavian countries. I don’t mean that these are the only countries in Europe that the population has high level of English proficiency, they are just the best. For the rest, they also have very good knowledge of English.

Let’s summarize it this way – European people in general understand and capable of using English language.

On the other hand, you may find it hard for people of southern Europe expressing themselves in English at times. As a result, while conversing with the local there, you can expect to use a lot of body language.

All in all, don’t forget, how much your English is going to be improved depends mainly on your social life. Are you socializing mostly with Thais or Foreigners? If you answer is foreigners, I’m 100% sure your English skills will be better more or less. In the end, how far you’ve accomplish language fluency; it is up to you not your host country.

11.ไปอยู่ยุโรปแล้วจะไม่ได้ฝึกภาษาอังกฤษ
แน่นอน ใครจะคิดว่าประชากรในประเทศที่ไม่ได้ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาแม่จะสามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษได้เหมือนเจ้าของภาษา แต่มีคะประเทศที่ประชากรเรียนภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาที่สองแต่สามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพเหมือนเจ้าของภาษานั้นคือ ประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ และทุกประเทศในแถบสแกนดิเนเวีย ในประเทศเหล่านี้เด็กอายุราวๆ 6 ขวบขึ้นไปก็เริ่มที่จะสื่อสารหรือเข้าใจภาษาอังกฤษได้แล้วดังนั้นใครที่มีความตั้งใจจะไปฝึกภาษาอังกฤษโดยเฉพาะ เราแนะนำให้เลือกประเทศในแถบนี้ อย่างไรก็ตาม อย่าลืมว่า การที่เราจะเก่งภาษาอังกฤษได้ไม่ได้ขึ้นอยู่กับสิ่งแวดล้อมเพียงอย่างเดียวแต่ขึ้นอยู่กับว่า เราใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในชีวิตประจำวันมากน้อยแค่ไหนด้วย ถึงจะอยู่ต่างประเทศแต่ถ้าเราไม่พูดภาษานั้นๆหรือใช้ชีวิตส่วนใหญ่อยู่กับคนไทยภาษาอังกฤษของเราก็จะไม่พัฒนาคะ

12. Au Pair's work is related to children only

No, in Europe, Au Pairs babysit 50% and take care of household 50%; however, remember, only light housework is allowed. No rubbing floors/ washing windows, gardening or something similar is acceptable by rules.

การเป็นออแพร์ที่ยุโรป ออแพร์จะดูเล็กและดูแลงานบ้านทุกอย่างในบ้าน ไม่ได้แบ่งว่าเป็นส่วนของเด็กหรือผู้ใหญ่ อย่างไรก็ตามตัวงานบ้านที่ออแพร์ดูแลจะไม่ใช่งานหนักคะ

13. Car is needed for getting around
One of the best thing about Europe is a convenient, reliable, extensive public transportation network and system that allows you reach places conveniently. Buses, trains, or bikes are widely used by Europeans. Walking long distance is common there too. As Europe is a small continent, to visit neighbor or other countries is super easy and time saving. There are a lot of inter-city/country buses and trains in operation. Cars are not popular or hardly used unless you live right in the countryside or remote area where it’s hard to catch public transportation.

13.การเดินทางภายในประเทศต้องใช้รถยนต์ส่วนตัว

เนื่องจากทวีปยุโรปเป็นทวีปที่มีขนาดเล็กและมีระบบการข่นส่งสาธารณะที่ทันสมัย สะดวกและครอบคลุมพื้นที่ การเดินทางทั้งในและต่างประเทศจึงเป็นเรื่องง่ายคะ ดังนั้นการใช้รถยนต์จึงไม่เป็นที่นิยมซักเท่าไรนัก เนื่องจากเป็นการเพิ่มค่าใช้จ่าย ภาษีรถยนต์ที่สูงและที่สำคํญการใช้รถไม่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมคะ โดยทั่วไปแล้วคนยุโรปมักจะเดิน ปั้นจักรยานหรือใช้รถสาธารณะเสียมากกว่า

14. You get to Study language for the entire year
Different from country to country; In case, you want to study 3^rd language for the entire year, Sweden is recommended because in Sweden if you are an Au pair and pay taxes to the state, you will be automatically entitled to go to a language school which subsided by Government for free. There, you can attend Swedish class as long as you want or until you finish the final course. For other countries, the most common practice is a host family pays for the first language course for Au Pair, but if you want to continue studying, it’s your own responsibility to pay for it.

14.ออแพร์จะได้เรียนภาษาตลอดทั้งปี
โดยทั่วไปแล้วออแพร์ในยุโรปจะได้เรียนภาษาเพียงคอร์สเดียวและครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์จะต้องซื้อคอร์สเรียนตัวนี้ให้ แต่ถ้าหากออแพร์มีความประสงค์ที่จะเรียนต่อหรือเพิ่มเติมออแพร์ต้องจ่ายค่าคอร์สเรียนเอง อย่างไรก็ตามในกรณีของประเทศสวีเดน หากออแพร์และครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์เสียภาษีให้รัฐ ออแพร์ก็จะได้สิทธิ์เข้าเรียนโรงเรียนภาษาของรัฐฟรีตลอดโครงการ คือไม่มีกำหนดว่าต้องเรียนนานเท่าไร ขึ้นอยู่กับความสามารถของออแพร์ว่าจะสามารถจบคอร์สเรียนได้เร็วแค่ไหน

15. Traveling within Europe is very expensive

No, it isn’t expensive if you make plans in advance and  know good travel tips. Generally if you are youth (age under 26 years old) there is discount you can get on public transport s, museum entries, accommodation bookings, and social events for you. So, make sure you apply for the Youth Travel Discount card https://www.statravel.co.th/iytc-card.htm)before leaving Thailand.

Despite higher cost of living in Europe comparing to Thailand, if you make a good travel plan in advance, chance you will get benefits on discount is high. We suggest you do research and check for promotions or available deals on prices online. With good planning, you can definitely travel on budget in Europe.

15.การเดินทางท่องเที่ยวในยุโรปแพง

หากเทียบเป็นเงินไทยก็อาจจะแพง แต่หากเปรียบเทียบกับประเทศที่พัฒนาแล้วหลายๆประเทศ ไม่แพงคะ อย่างที่เกริ่นไปแล้วว่ายุโรปเป็นทวีปที่มีระบบการคมนาคมที่เชื่อมต่อกันอย่างดีเยี่ยม และด้วยเหตุนี้การที่เราจะเดินทางจากประเทศหนึ่งไปอีกยังประเทศหนึ่งจึงเป็นเรื่องที่ง่าย สะดวกและค่าตั๋วไม่แพง เนื่องจากระยะทางในการเดินทางระหว่างประเทศไม่ห่างกันมาก อย่างเช่น ถ้าเดินทางจากเนเธอร์แลนด์ไปเบลเยียมโดยรถบัส จะใช้เวลาประมาณ 45 นาทีหรือ 1 ชั่วโมง หรือจากเบลเยียมไปฝรั่งเศสโดยรถบัส จะอยู่ราวๆ 4 ชั่วโมง นอกจากนี้ในยุโรปยังมีสายการบินราคาถูกที่ให้บริการอยู่หลายสายการบิน บินไปยังหลากหลายเส้นทางภายในทวีป อย่างเช่น Ryan Air, Norwegian Airlines, SAS, EasyJet หรือ GermanWing และในหลายประเทศในยุโรปจะให้ Discount กับผู้โดยสารหรือนักเดินทางที่ยังเป็นเยาวชนอยู่หรืออายุยังไม่เกิน 26 ปีอีกด้วย

16. Europe is safe

Europe is relatively safe but not all areas are considerable as completely safe. Use your common sense like avoiding dark areas, roaming empty Street or isolated place alone at night time (especially women), don’t show off your valuable stuff in public or carry a lot of cash with you while traveling because these items usually draw attention from pickpockets and thieves.

โดยทั่วไปแล้วระดับความปลอดในหลายๆประเทศถือว่าสูงแต่ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าทุกทีจะปลอดภัย ดังนั้นก่อนเดินทางเราก็ควรที่จะศึกษาข้อมูลหรือคำแนะนำในหนังสือเดินทางให้ดีและพยายามหลีกเลี่ยงเส้นทางที่มืดและเปลี่ยวในยามค่ำคืน

17. Au pair must pay insurance him/herself

There is only one country that doesn’t oblige host families to take out travel/health insurance for Au Pairs which is Sweden, so if you are participating in the program in this country, remember to take out an insurance before departure. For other countries, host families are obliged to take out insurance for Au pairs. If you are applying for the program in one of these countries and your Thai agency charges you for insurance cost, then again it’s a lie.

17.ออแพร์ต้องซื้อประกันเองและประเทศไหนบ้างที่ไม่ต้องซื้อประกันเอง

ปกติแล้วกฎหมายในหลายๆประเทศบังคับให้ครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์ซื้อประกันที่ครอบคลุมเรื่องการรักษาพยาบาลและอุบัติเหตุให้ออแพร์ ยกเว้นประเทศสวีเดนที่กฎหมายไม่ได้บังคับให้ครอบครัวซื้อประกันให้ ดังนั้นกรณีนี้จึงขึ้นอยู่กับการตกลงระหว่างครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์กับออแพร์ ประเทศที่โฮทต้องซื้อประกันให้ออแพร์มีดังต่อไปนี้ เนเธอร์แลนด์ เบลเยียม เยอรมันนี นอร์เวย์ สวีเดน เดนมาร์ก  และอื่นๆ

18. Criminal record must be issued in Thai only

This is important information which you must read carefully! A Criminal Clearance paper can be issued IN ENGLISH by Police. You don’t have to ask for the document in Thai. You can just walk in to the Royal Thai Police and ask them to issue this document in English. Neither additional fee charged nor translation needed whatsoever! It costs you only 100 Baht.

หลักการขอประวัติอาชญากรรมเพื่อสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการออแพร์ในยุโรป ผู้สมัครสามารถขอเอกสารเป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้เลยโดยตรงกับเจ้าหน้าตำรวจเพราะในการยื่นเรื่องขอเอกสาร ออแพร์ต้องระบุในใบคำขออยู่แล้วว่าต้องการเอกสารเป็นภาษาไทยหรืออังกฤษและจะเอาเอกสารไปใช้เพื่อจุดประสงค์อะไร ค่าธรรมเนียบขอใบประวัติอาชญากรรมคือ 100 บาท รอเอกสารประมาณ 30 วันทำการ

19. A driving license is a must

Surely, having an international driving license expand your opportunity to match faster but remember not all families looking for an Au Pair with ability to drive, so, again it depends on a family’s requirement and expectation.

19.ผู้สมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการจำเป็นต้องมีใบขับขี่รถยนต์

ใบขับขี่สากลนั้นไม่จำเป็นต้องมีก็ได้ แต่ใบขับขี่จะเป็นประโยชน์ในเรื่องการหาครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์เนื่องจากครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์นั้นมีทั้งที่ต้องการออแพร์ที่ขับรถได้และออแพร์ที่ขับรถไม่ได้ ซึ่งหมายความว่า ถ้าเราเป็นผู้สมัครที่ขับรถได้ โอกาสที่เราจะได้ติดต่อกับครอบครัวก็มากขึ้นด้วย

20. You can extend your Au Pair residence permit

No, you cannot as it isn’t allowed by law. You can be Au pair in one country for only once in a lifetime. This is an exception for Sweden though - there is chance you will be granted an Au pair permit to work in this country twice but in order to re-apply you must stay in your home country for at least a year after you’ve completed the first Au pair year in Sweden.

P.S: Although you about-to-expire Au Pair permit cannot be extended, you can move to other Schengen country to work as an Au pair.

ไม่ได้คะ เนื่องจากกฎหมายไม่อนุญาต โดยกฎทั่วไปแล้ว คนคนหนึ่งสามารถเป็นออแพร์ได้เพียงครั้งเดียวในประเทศนั้นๆ จะมีเพียงสวีเดนที่มีกฎเขียนไว้ว่า ออแพร์ที่เคยเป็นออแพร์ที่สวีเดนแล้ว สามารถสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการได้อีกครั้ง แต่ต้องเว้นระยะไปหนึ่งปี คือต้องกลับไปอยู่ประเทศของตัวเองเป็นระยะเวลาหนึ่งปีแล้วถึงจะสามารถสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการอีกได้ อย่างไรก็ตาม ถึงแม้ว่าออแพร์จะไม่สามารถต่อใบอนุญาตในประเทศนั้นๆได้ แต่ออแพร์ก็ยังสามารถย้ายประเทศไปทำออแพร์ในประเทศอื่นๆ ในเขตเชงเก้นได้
